A winter of running on the moor

Dartmoor is a hard place to run.
Not to hike maybe, but to run? Definitely.
Most of the time I've been out on the moor this winter, I've had a broad expanse of open moorland up here in the less popular "Northern Quarter" practically all to myself.

After a pretty glorious October down here, with running on dry paths, the rain followed in November, and days and days of never having dry feet followed. I pretty soon realised that to be up above 400m more than a mile from home meant I could be in total solitude, in many square miles of, at best indistinct sheep tracks and with a change in the weather often inevitable in the next hour or two.
